Worship News
June 2008 Dear Members and Friends of Little Hill: I am excited to bring you several items of news—news and opportunity! First, our new Alternative Worship begins next Sunday, June 8. at 6:45 PM. This worship will be alternative in three ways: one, in terms of time—Sunday evening—to accommodate those whose work schedules and family schedules cause Sunday morning to be difficult. Second, it will be alternative in terms of style, a bit less formal (Pastor Bruce will not wear a pulpit robe or a tie) with some different music and a Praise Band to lead the music—with guitars, bass, electronic keyboard, and drums. Pastor Bruce’s sermon will be the same one he’ll preach on Sunday morning, but again, a bit more informal in its delivery. And \third, it will be alternative in terms of location, as we will not meet in the Sanctuary, but in the Fellowship Hall. In addition to the worship, we will hold a Community Dinner beforehand, beginning at 5 PM and running until 6:30 PM, with the worship to follow at 6:45 PM. All of this will be in the Fellowship Hall. The cost for the dinner will be $5 per person, for a main course, vegetable, potato or something, tossed salad, beverage and dessert. The first dinner will be stuffed chicken breast. Lance Harris, chef at St. Paul’s UMC in Allison Park, is graciously providing us with this. You may of course come to dinner and not stay for worship—but we hope you DO stay! Another piece of news for you—and opportunity!—is that our new website, www.littlehill.org, should be up and running by the time you receive this letter. Now you’ll be able to keep track of what’s happening, when special worship services and events will be happening, and other opportunities to plug into things. The website will also provide the weekly Prayer List that is in the Sunday bulletin each week, so you will also be able to pray for those in our church family and those whom those in our church family are praying for. The website will also include biographical information on me (if you care to know!) as well as how to be in touch with me or others, and in time I may even do some blogging on it. In addition, other links to our Western Pennsylvania Conference site, our worldwide missions, and any other connectional information will also be provided. The Beacon, our monthly newsletter, will also be available though the website. So bookmark www.littlehill.org so you can be more informed as to what is going on. I’m excited at this new step in our public presence, this new statement that we are “on the map” so to speak. Another opportunity is tied in with our wishlist for the Youth Room. We have already done work on our nursery, to make it more welcoming for those with little ones. Now we’re working on the Youth Room, so our youth can have a place in the church to call their own. We need donations of couches and chairs and tables and lamps. We have already been given a big TV, so that piece of it is covered. Any help you could provide would be appreciated. Contact me by phone or e-mail to make your offers! This is an exciting time in the life of Little Hill Church. Thank you for your support, and please prayerfully consider how you may respond to the opportunities this news offers you!
Grace and Peace, Rev. Bruce E. Stollings, Pastor
